I’ve long said Chinese AI companies were ahead — and Seedance 2 (from ByteDance) might prove it.
While tools like Hailuo and Wan were already strong video generators, Seedance 2.0 pushes things further. Early comparisons suggest it surpasses OpenAI’s Sora 2 and Google’s Veo 3 in cinematic realism and production quality.
A viral AI video of Tom Cruise fighting Brad Pitt showcased near–Hollywood-level visuals — complete with built-in audio and accurate lip sync. All the press and internet are talking about it.
The model automatically handles shot composition, camera movement, and scene transitions without requiring detailed technical prompts.
Seedance 2.0 also supports multi modal references, giving creators detailed control over performance, lighting, shadows, and camera movement.
Unlike Veo 3.1 which primarily relies on text prompts with limited image reference support, Seedance 2 accepts up to 12 reference files simultaneously: 9 images, 3 videos, and 3 audio files. This isn't just a technical specification—it fundamentally changes how creators work with AI video generation.
Testing revealed that character dialogue maintains emotional consistency—when a character speaks with urgency, facial expressions, vocal tone, and body language align naturally. This eliminates the traditional post-production workflow of separately generating audio and manually syncing it to video.
This isn’t just text-to-video anymore.
It’s AI-powered filmmaking.
Compared to "Google Veo 3.1," "Seedance 2" is cheaper. In "Google Veo 3.1," each five-second video can cost between $2 and $3, while in Seedance they cost 60 cents. Furthermore, Seedance 2 can generate videos in up to 2K resolution (higher quality).
Note:
There are many websites and platforms that use (or claim to use) the Seedance 2 API as resellers, affiliate portals, or third-party interfaces that sell credits/subscriptions with their own prices and margins. They basically function as "wrappers" that connect to the original API or implementations that use the model under the hood, but are not the official ByteDance website. The price per credit or per video you will pay is higher than subscribing directly from the official website.
Some of these sites may not even be official ByteDance affiliates and simply leverage the "Seedance" name to attract users, which implies the risk of you paying more without clear guarantees.
Therefore, always join through the official Seedance website.
